Nexus 7 Sold One Million Per Month

Sales of tablet from Asus experienced a significant increase in the third quarter of 2012, approaching 200 percent when compared to the second quarter.

However, Asus and Google declined to give exact figures of such sale. A day after Google released the 3G version of the Nexus 7, Asustek's chief financial officer David Chang told the Wall Street Journal that the Nexus 7 sales approaching one million units per month.

"Initially about 500 thousand units per month, then increased to 600 thousand, 700 thousand, and is now approaching one million units per month," said Chang.

This figure indicates an encouraging trend for Asus and Google, even though their sales are still far below the iPad sales reached 14 million units in the last quarter. Apple posted a profit of $ 8, 2 billion this year.

The increase in sales is also an impact on the net profit which reached USD230 Asus million in the third quarter. Compared to the second quarter, net income increased by Asus 9 percent.

Asus net profit increase is seen in contrast to the two competitors, Dell and HP. Both are still struggling to sell PCs and is still in transition to enter the tablet market.

iPad Market Down 14 Percent

iPad Market Down 14 Percent

Although the iPad still dominates the global tablet market with 55% of the presentation, but ABI Research  Institute reported the iPad's market share decreased 14% in the third quarter (Q3) of 2012.

Declining sales became the 'worst' since the first iPad made ??its debut two years ago. While its competitors like Samsung, Asus and Amazon was right behind Apple.

Reportedly also, the Android-based tablet that controlled 44% of total tablet shipments. While the rest of the occupied and the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet running Windows.

"As an operating system is the most widely chosen by the OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer), we estimate the Android ecosystem will continue to grow with new producers, the better choice, and there will be more developers are finding the value of transaction applications and content," said Jeff Orr, ABI senior practitioners, as revealed by Electronista.

Institute research also shows that Apple iPad Mini, which is not included in the analysis of the third quarter, could not take back market share from Android. However, there is a shift in demand is expected for the standard iPad 'down market'.

"With the introduction of the iPad Mini, a smaller and lower cost, at least Apple admits existence of class 7-inch Android tablet, though at the same time, they fail to give a buzz through innovation, price and the availability during critical sales period this year," said Orr .

iPad Mini Sacrifice Brother

If the iPad Mini is cheaper is not sold in large numbers, then Apple would not gain as predicted. In addition to be sophisticated, iPad Mini should be sold cheap to block competitors in the 7-inch tablet market.

Apple products are calculated to be expensive after Amazon launched the Fire Kidle sold only (U.S.) $ 199. Then when the second-generation Kindle Fire, Kindle Fire HD 8.9 "4G LTE Wireless launched and priced at $ 499.00, while the Kindle Fire HD 8.9" sold at $ 299.00, it is still included in the price category average.

Amazon is now selling the Kindle Fire even with special offers for $ 159. Meanwhile, to compensate Paperwhite Kindle, eReader which also launched simultaneously, rival Barnes & Noble Nook prices cut Glowlight e-reader from $ 139 to $ 119

If after that tablet products with other brands are also down to the market, then they use the price of the Kindle Fire as a "benchmark". As a result, the tablet market is not enlivened by a number of features or the promotion of new innovations, but by quixotic tablet.

This is of course impact the iPad has been dominating the tablet market. To anticipate segment 7-inch tablet, the iPad Mini was launched at a price, which, although low, according to Apple, there are still countless expensive in the tablet market right now, which is $ 329. This is the cheapest price iPad Mini with a screen size 7.9 inches, WiFi and memory capacity 16 GB.

It seems a bit difficult to open a new market with a tablet version of the mini although bearing the legendary American electronics company. In fact, Apple will benefit from mini tablet if sold in large quantities. While in the market also circulated that the iPad tablet is not a mini version.

The solution, restrict sales Apple iPad 4 that previously has been marketed, so that consumers switch to the iPad Mini. Therefore, many analysts termed the impact that the iPad Mini iPad cannibalize the previous generation.

Is Apple's strategy leads consumers to the iPad Mini would be effective? What about consumers who want to use the 10-inch iPad tablet?
