Although the iPad still dominates the global tablet market with 55% of the presentation, but ABI Research  Institute reported the iPad's market share decreased 14% in the third quarter (Q3) of 2012.

Institute research also shows that Apple iPad Mini, which is not included in the analysis of the third quarter, could not take back market share from Android. However, there is a shift in demand is expected for the standard iPad 'down market'.

"With the introduction of the iPad Mini, a smaller and lower cost, at least Apple admits existence of class 7-inch Android tablet, though at the same time, they fail to give a buzz through innovation, price and the availability during critical sales period this year," said Orr .
